Hey guys, as some of us are breaking into the 60-65 GR range with our SC monks, you'll probably start to notice your dps limits as time will just run out before the RG spawns. While min/maxing your stat rolls on gear and replacing with ancients is important, there is definitely strategies in greater rifts that will speed up your clear times and help you to not waste time on certain packs / elites.
Here's a few strats I'm figuring out as I go:
Mob density vs Pack density
SC needs both, preferably. Pack density is basically how far you have to run between packs, and mob density is how tight together each pack of mob are - zombie packs are always going to be dense as they spawn in 3's or 4's. You want melee packs if possible, as ranged will not follow you to group up like melee will.
GR types
I've noticed with certain rift types, I will just fall behind right on the first floor (eg. caves) due to lack of mob density. If I ever roll a cave greater rift when pushing, I just exit game and start again; not worth wasting 15-20 minutes if you're specifically pushing to clear a higher GR than you have before. The act IV spire GR map is amazing for density, and so is the act III keeps, and the act V passage/ruins type map.
Moving through the GR
Since SC does way more dmg to debuffed targets with high density, sometimes it's better to drag the remaining high HP / elite mob from a pack into the next pack. In some maps you will be able to do this fluidly where you keep moving, tagging new packs and killing some, etc etc (basically you never completely kill a pack at once and move on).
Debuffing:when to single click target vs when to hold down for 3 hit
Generally I single click debuff a small pack to drag them along into a bigger one. If you find a huge pack that's spread out, you can pop epiphany and right click almost every target within a few seconds for a glorious web of static charge Once the packs have moved to you and tightened up, you can 3-FoT hit them until they are all debuffed, but don't waste more than 2 seconds doing it, as you only have 6 seconds of debuff time before they need to be re-debuffed. I've found just 3-hitting the tightly packed mob closest to you and immediately switching to Fists of Fury and repeating is more efficient.
Some of this might not be the best info, it's just what I've figured out so far.. pls comment, and share your wisdom and strats!
